For nearly 37 years, the Urban Development Institute – Edmonton Metro (UDI-EM) has gathered hundreds of its members annually for its Golf Classic. And year after year, close to 7,500 participants have tried their best to hit a hole-in-one.
“To our knowledge, no one has won the hole-in-one contest,” said Kalen Anderson, Executive Director of UDI-EM. “But with good company, we all hit a hole-in-one by coming together, connecting, and building relationships.”
Held at The Quarry after a brief hiatus due to the pandemic, 200 members and their guests, took part in a highly-competitive and very serious 18-hole golf tournament.
While there were many prizes to be won, it was bragging rights that were truly on the line. Meet the winners of the 37th Golf Classic:
- Winning Team: Shaun Andreas, Mike Pigeon, Ashley Hnatiw, and Jason Hall
- Longest Drive: Tyson Hilhorst and Kate Lumley
- Longest Putt: PJ Pescod and Alessandra Bruni
- Closest to the Pin: Stephen Moore and Reanna Rehman

This event could not have been possible without the generosity of the many sponsors listed below, all of which are city builders who want to create and foster a sense of community.
In addition, many door prizes were on offer from Melcor, Maclab Development Group, Edmonton Downtown Business Association, North West Paving, BILD Alberta, The Quarry, Hi Signs, and the Edmonton Construction Association.
While UDI is hard at work planning their remaining events for 2022, the Board, staff, and committees, are welcoming feedback for next year’s Golf Classic, as well as ideas for new initiatives.
“We know that our members care about opportunities to network and build relationships,” said Susan Keating, Chair of the UDI Board of Directors. “That’s why our focus over the next few years is to level up our member engagement. We continue to make changes to our events and initiatives, and hope you’ll continue to share with us your ideas for the future.”
